Cabin Fever (2016) is a remake of Eli Roth’s 2002 horror film of the same name. The story follows a group of five friends—Paul, Karen, Jeff, Marcy, and Bert—who rent a secluded cabin in the woods for a vacation. Their trip quickly turns into a nightmare when they encounter a flesh-eating virus that spreads rapidly among them. Paranoia and fear set in as they turn against one another, unsure of who is infected.
Attempts to seek help only lead to more chaos, with violent encounters involving locals who are determined to contain the outbreak at any cost. The infection spreads gruesomely, causing horrific bodily decay. As the group succumbs to the disease one by one, the film descends into brutal, gory horror. While largely following the same plot as the original, the remake adds modernized visuals but was criticized for lacking originality and failing to recapture the original’s dark humor.
